Try out an alternative.

Hello dear web-cyradm users.

Check out this new project at sourceforge.

http://pweb-cyradm.sourceforge.net/index.php?file=about

I've have been investing some time to make an alternative to web-cyradm,
since I think it lacks to many features, and since development seems
to be stalled.
The CVS main version works far better than the release, that has some
small flaws.
I would greatly appreciate any feedback to this project.
You might have to add/change your database and it has not been tested
against mysql yet.
If you know perl and want to develop you are more than welcome.

Regards
J. Henriksen.

Hi,

I think it's a good initiative to spent some time to develop some
features the current web-cyradm lacks.
There is no development at this project anymore, but there are already
some alternatives (sorry, don't know the names).

For me it's risky to switch to another webcyradm project, because I know
the current webcyradm project and it's stability. Remember, this project
is used to manage mail domains and mail accounts for my customers which
is a very "responsible" task.
If you start from scratch, I should at least start with a good platform
like .net or java and definitely not perl!
In my opinion it's always better to join a existing project instead of
starting a new project.
If you want to start a new project, you should start with:
- requirements
- a domain model, which lists all the entities and it's relations
- a software architecture
- etc.

The current webcyradm project is of course a good startingpoint to find
the domain model and a list many requirements.

In The Netherlands we have a saying "best mates are on shore" (De beste
stuurlui staan aan wal :-)), but if I can help you I will do.

Hello List,

i read something about some Problems with ACLs on Subfolders;
but i cant figure out wich Version is affected :)

So can someone tell me if im in that Trouble with my cyrus-imapd
V.2.2.12 ?

Cause i have problems on some Mailboxes that are shared to
lots of users; most of them can only see one subfolder on that
shared mailbox; but there are 5-8 Subfolders available......
And this sounds like that cyrus bug on my SLES10 Server...

Any special Hints to follow before upgrading from 2.2.x to 2.3.x?

thanks and cheers

Scratch that - wrong mailing list; and the "Problem" is
due to new IMAP Specs. wich Thunderbird 3.x supports but the
server not(yet) :)
